Unreal Engine 4 Integration

I don't think it would be easy, but there's the full source and C++ for UE4 now.

It would be great if dialog could be automatically sent from articy to UE4 blueprint, each character's dialog turned into an array with an index for each entry and the appropriate variables for character names.

Even some suggestions on how to handle bulk data for manual entry would be nice to read...

:P

Hello tomofnz,

I agree that UE4 will gain a lot of reach with the new business model and a closer integration would make sense.

When it comes to engine integrations, we're looking for cooperation partners (companies or educational institutes). Maybe, if someone with UE4 expertise reads this, please send me a message. In the meantime, the articy:access dev team will look into it and see what needs to be done.

Cheers,
-Kai

I would be extremely interested in any UE4 integration! It would be amazing to somehow use the item database I've been working on in Articy in UE4.

We'd also be very much interested in an Unreal 4 integration; particularly automated import or conversion of articy assets to the editor. Has there been any movement in that regard?

Nice to see ambershee on these forums! While I would think UE4 integration would be interesting, I simply don't see why it would be that helpful, unless you were doing some sort of bioware-esque chat wheel.

Unreal Engine 4 Developer here :D
I've recently just started evaluating articy:draft 2 single-user trial (under 2 days ago) and I am looking at getting a multi-user evaluation to test things further on our servers (email already sent so all good).

Anyhow,
articy:draft 2 <-> UE4 Bluepirnts would be the PERFECT synergy of workflows and I too would love to see an official UE4 plugin at some point in the future if possible :)

I would also like to add a suggestion that it would be extremely useful if articy;draft 2's drawing tools could be exported to UE4 and continued iteration could be carried out from there.

For example:
1. create map layout in articy 2
2. export 2D vector? data to UE4
3. have the ability to not only add this data as an overlay on terrain or BSP but also tie it into the BSP toolset. This would allow you to convert each of your boxes to flat BSP boxes or plans & allow you to than extrude said boxes into 3D surfaces which would be the first steps towards blocking out your pre-vis level in a rather timely fashion :ugeek:

P.S. Be sure to check out this UE4 Forum thread where not only did I get a great referral to your great articy:draft 2 software but where some great suggestions have been made for feature requests.

Hey Benjamin!

Thanks for supporting us in the unreal forums! I just visited your post there. Actually you're able to set your whiteboxes inside your exported project. I've attached a screenshot.
Yes you need to write your code for this, but articy delivers all information regarding the Vector2 within the XML Export.

Best regards,
Martin

Thank you for that information Martin :)

We've just upgraded our Single-User evaluation to a Multi-User Server evaluation & after that's all setup on our dedicated server, we will take a deep dive into your articy:draft API (https://www.nevigo.com/en/articydraft/api/) and see what we can do about prototyping a very rough UE4 Plugin :geek:

NOTE: We have never worked on a plugin which includes access to UE4 BSP + terrain tools, so we will see how we go & will most likely follow Rama's Editor Integration Vertex Snapping System! https://github.com/EpicGames/UnrealEngine/pull/62 as a reference point ;)
